MAJOR PASSWORD CHANGE
April 5th, 2025, BNSF implemented a major password change requirement.
Please review the documents posted at the on-duty terminals, and below for more info.
Attention TYE Employees: --- NEW PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS ---
A new password policy went into effect on March 5, 2025. The initial implementation will affect users as their passwords expire or as users otherwise choose to reset their password. After March 5, when a user’s password expires, they will be required to create a new password that is at least 12 characters long.
The new password will propagate to all downstream systems including the mainframe systems. However, it’s important to note that the mainframe (Emulator/TSS/Green Screen) will only use the first eight characters of the new 12-character password.
Do not use the mainframe to reset your password
Also, beginning March 5, users should no longer use the mainframe emulator/TSS to reset their passwords. Users who reset their passwords on the Mainframe will cause their passwords to be out of sync and will cause access issues. All team members are encouraged to update their BNSF password regularly using a Windows computer to allow the new password to properly sync with the mainframe and other systems.
Using an iPad to reset your password.
If you're a TYE team member with a company-issued iPad, you can use that device to change your password by navigating to mybnsf.com if you know your existing password and it just expired. Upon logging in with the expired password and completing the MFA process, you'll be prompted to change that password before the website loads.
If you need additional help resetting your password, contact Adam Jaramillo or the BNSF Help Desk.
